Facilities Department
It is the Facilities Department’s mission to provide a safe and clean leaning environment meeting all Massachusetts Building Codes for the students of Gloucester.

It is the responsibility of this department to maintain the eight school buildings and subsequent grounds for our children and the Gloucester community at large. Our eight buildings have a combined total of 736,778 square feet and total 102.3 combined acres.

The scope of our responsibilities include:
  • IPM Plans
  • Air Quality
  • Electrical repairs/upgrades
  • Plumbing repairs/upgrades
  • Grounds Maintenance
  • Carpentry
  • Emergency Response
  • HVAC Repairs
  • Building Use/Rentals

The Facilities Department is heavily involved with the planning and implementation for all Capital Projects which involves the schools and school properties. Consequently, the Maintenance Staff is frequently asked to sit on the various subcommittees responsible for these Capital Projects: Rink Dehumidification Committee, Oil Tank Removal and Replacement Committees, and the Fuller School Sky Light Committee, just to name a few.

Our staff consists of ten maintenance men. Their areas of specialization include:

1 – Plumber, 1-Journeyman Electrician, 1-Master Electrician/HVAC/Air Quality Specialist,/Oil Burner Technician/Energy Management Consultant, 5-Carpenters/General Repair Specialist, and 2-Rink Technicians.

Our Custodian Staff maintains a staff of 21 which include: 3 Senior Building Custodians located at the three large schools and 18 Junior Custodians assigned to the various school buildings within the district.
