The Title I Program is a student support program to help provide children the opportunity to achieve educational excellence. Title I programs are designed to enable Title I schools identify children who could benefit from academic support services and provide extra help in reading and/or math. ![]() The Massachusetts Department of Education provides funding for Title I services, with funds provided to each state by the federal government These funds are provided to communities based on the number of children from low-income families in the community. Two schools qualify for these Title I program funds in the 2011-12 school year. The Beeman Memorial Elementary School, East Gloucester Elementary school and Veterans' Memorial Elementary School are the Title I eligible schools in Gloucester. The Title I program on a national, state, and local community level encourages programs for early childhood and elementary school children. The Gloucester Title I Program emphasizes early intervention and literacy support for children in grades K-5 and math support for students in grades 3-5.
