Good Evening Everyone,

I want to thank you all for coming tonight to support such a valuable cause. My name is Lori Taft, my son Spencer is a senior at Gloucester High School. I have spent MANY nights wondering and yes worrying about my son’s college future. He is a tremendous hard working student who is in the National Honor Society and has a 4.0 GPA. I worried that because of my income limits and the lack of knowledge of where to even start in this overwhelming college process that Spencer possibly wouldn’t be able to go to college at all. When I was 18 my parents told me they could not afford to send me to college and if I wanted to go I would have to find a way on my own. Unfortunately I did not go. I did not want the same for Spencer but didn’t know where to start. One day in his Sophomore year, Spencer came home with a piece of paper that little did I know would ease my worries and give us the resources to help my extremely bright student be able to attend the school of his dreams and be rewarded for all his hard work over the past 4 years. I was skeptical at our first meeting thinking, “what’s the catch”? After an hour long meeting with Jesenia, I left there feeling hopeful of the program. She had graciously answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. There was no catch. If Spencer was willing to commit to going every week after school and working hard in the program then they would make sure they would guide him and assist him in achieving his dream of going to a great school. With their resources, dedication to helping students and vast knowledge of the process it has made our journey through the college selection process so much less stressful. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the staff who work tirelessly to help my son and all the other students. I know that you are all here because you believe in this organization. My son and I thank you for your continued support for these wonderful programs, students and staff.
