In-District Elementary School Choice Application 2024-2025
For Gloucester Families That Want to Choose a Different Elementary School in Gloucester
Use this form if your family wants to request a student attend an elementary school that is not the school for which your home is zoned.
The School Committee has established local “catchment” areas for each Gloucester elementary school. Children living within the boundaries of each of these areas have the right to enroll in and attend the local school in their respective catchment area.
With respect to School Choice, families must follow the procedures established by the School Committee listed below to place a child’s name on a waiting list for admission to a school outside of their local catchment area:
First, the child must be registered by completing the registration process for their "home" school - the school that your home address is zoned for.
Second, a parent/guardian must fill out the form for School Choice below and submit that completed form to the Kindergarten Registration Coordinator at the Gloucester Public Schools Central Office at 2 Blackburn Drive. Requests will be accepted from March 6, 2024 through May 15, 2024.
Third, as established by the Gloucester School Committee (File JF, Admission of Students to Elementary School, of the School Committee Policy Manual), review and determination of intra-district requests will be completed in early June for Grades 1-5 and between August 1 and August 10 for Kindergarten.
Inter-District School Choice Request Form 2024-25
For Families Living Outside of Gloucester That Want to Attend a School in Gloucester
Gloucester Public Schools admits non-resident students under the terms and conditions of the Inter-district School Choice Law and the Gloucester School Committee-School Choice Policies. This provision allows families with children living outside of Gloucester with the opportunity to enroll their child/children in Gloucester Public Schools.
If you are interested in having your child attend school in Gloucester Public Schools under this program and our district is accepting students, you MUST complete and submit this form by the deadline date of August 7, 2024.
Please note, transportation is not provided to families who are accepted through the state School Choice Program to attend the Gloucester Public Schools.
School Choice Request Forms for the 2024-2025 school year for Grades K-12 MUST be submitted NO later than August 7 , 2024 for review. Once a child has been accepted for school choice they MUST complete the registration process within 10 days of notification of school choice acceptance.
